Trump, Musk Rally Conservatives Ahead Of Vital Wisconsin Supreme Court Election

Conservatives nationwide are uniting behind President Donald Trump’s endorsed candidate Brad Schimel in Wisconsin’s closely watched Supreme Court election, with tech billionaire Elon Musk leading the charge just days before the April 1 vote.

This election is especially significant because control of Wisconsin’s top court hangs in the balance, currently evenly divided between conservatives and liberals. Schimel, Wisconsin’s former Republican attorney general, faces Dane County Judge Susan Crawford, whose campaign is supported by Democratic heavyweights including former President Barack Obama.

Musk has invested heavily in Schimel’s victory, using his America PAC to spend more than $20 million on ads and direct voter outreach efforts. He recently announced a dramatic move to personally award two Wisconsin voters $1 million each at an event Sunday for signing petitions opposing activist judges. Wisconsin’s Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul promptly filed suit, calling Musk’s move unlawful.

Trump has warned Wisconsin voters that a victory for Crawford, whom he describes as a “Radical Left Liberal,” would mean that the conservative movement he leads would “bypass Wisconsin,” potentially impacting national conservative goals. He urged voters to turn out early for Schimel, emphasizing the importance of the race far beyond state borders.

Obama also weighed in, urging voters to choose Crawford as the only candidate who would protect fundamental rights in the state. Democrats have attempted to frame the election as a referendum on Musk’s influence, airing television spots that criticize the billionaire’s policies and portray Schimel as Musk’s ally.

Schimel himself has largely avoided direct involvement in the Musk controversy, declining to comment on Musk’s petition giveaway and asserting he isn’t providing legal advice. Instead, his campaign has emphasized judicial restraint and protecting Wisconsin’s conservative reforms, including former Gov. Scott Walker’s Act 10.

That legislation limited public-sector unions’ bargaining power, stopping the use of taxpayer-funded salaries to funnel campaign cash toward Democrats. Crawford, who openly opposed Act 10, has pledged to overturn conservative legislative victories if elected.

Schimel previously stated he considered signing Musk’s anti-activist judge petition, noting agreement with its message but ultimately deciding against it, highlighting the cautious line he has walked amid escalating tensions.
