New Evidence Points To Possible Accomplices In Trump Assassination Attempt
In the aftermath of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, new evidence suggests that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the shooter, may not have acted alone. The presence of explosives and a bomb detonator, combined with the lack of evidence showing Crooks researched bomb-making, indicates possible assistance from other individuals or groups.
Police found a cell phone and a bomb detonator next to Crooks’ body after he was killed by a Secret Service sniper. Exclusive photos obtained by WPXI reveal these items, which raise questions about how Crooks acquired the knowledge and materials to execute such a sophisticated attack.
Investigators, as reported by CNN, have not found any online search history indicating that Crooks learned how to make homemade explosives. This gap in evidence suggests that Crooks likely had help in obtaining and assembling the explosives found in his car.
The fact that Crooks had a rangefinder, a tool used by snipers, further supports the theory that he had external assistance. The ease with which he accessed a rooftop and targeted Trump points to a level of planning and preparation that seems unlikely for an individual acting alone.
Crooks also purchased a 5-foot ladder from Home Depot on the day of the attack. However, the ladder found at the scene was larger, leading to questions about how Crooks knew he needed a ladder and whether someone else provided the equipment.
The assassination attempt resulted in a bullet grazing President Trump’s ear and injuries to other rally attendees. Trump’s response, raising his fist and shouting “Fight! Fight! Fight!” as he was escorted to safety, has been widely noted.
Despite media portrayals of Crooks as a lone wolf and domestic terrorist, the complexity of the attack and the presence of sophisticated equipment suggest he had help. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to identify any accomplices who may have supported Crooks in his assassination attempt on Trump.
