Report: Trump And RFK Jr. Agree To ‘The People’s Town Hall,’ But Biden Will Be Missing
Former President Donald Trump and independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have reportedly agreed “in principle” to participate in live town halls hosted by cable news network NewsNation and social media platform X. However, President Joe Biden has not agreed to take part in these events, according to sources cited by Axios.
The project, titled “The People’s Town Hall,” is not a debate but will feature separate live interviews with Trump and Kennedy. The concept allows users to submit questions to moderators both before and during the events, with the final slate of questions determined by the moderators. The dates and locations for these town halls have yet to be determined.
X CEO Linda Yaccarino initiated the concept with the goal of making X a platform where everyday people can have a greater voice in the political process. The live feeds will be available to all X users globally, and moderators for each event will likely include at least one NewsNation host alongside other journalists.
While Trump and Kennedy have agreed to participate, the Biden campaign has not commented on its involvement. This development comes as campaign events increasingly shift to new platforms, with NewsNation having hosted the fourth GOP presidential primary debate last December.
Meanwhile, Kennedy has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against CNN and the campaigns of Biden and Trump over the criteria for participating in the upcoming presidential debate scheduled for June 27. Kennedy’s campaign claims that it is being held to different criteria in violation of election laws.
