FBI Reveals Identity Of Trump Assassination Attempt Suspect
The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the gunman in the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The incident occurred during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024.
Crooks, armed with an AR-style rifle, fired multiple shots from a rooftop approximately 130 yards away from the stage. A U.S. Secret Service sniper fatally shot him after he opened fire. Trump’s quick response, ducking at the sound of gunfire, likely saved his life as a bullet grazed his ear.
In a Truth Social post, Trump thanked law enforcement for their rapid response and extended condolences to the victims’ families. “I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured.”
The FBI continues to investigate the incident, urging anyone with information to submit photos or videos online. The attempt has intensified concerns about security at political events and the escalating threats faced by public figures. The Trump campaign has confirmed that the former president is in good health and will continue with his scheduled appearances, including the upcoming Republican National Convention in Wisconsin.
