Republicans Score Victory In Blocking Biden’s Radical Judicial Nominee
Senate Republicans achieved a major win this week when President Biden’s nominee Adeel Mangi was withdrawn from consideration for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Mangi, who faced significant bipartisan opposition, was ultimately blocked due to his controversial ties to groups that support anti-police rhetoric and individuals convicted of killing police officers.
Mangi’s nomination was contentious due to his involvement with the Rutgers Center for Security, Race, and Rights, a think tank known for its inflammatory statements about law enforcement and Israel. Additionally, Mangi’s role with the Alliance of Families for Justice, a group that glorified notorious cop killers, caused widespread concern. His connections to these organizations raised questions about his impartiality and fitness for a lifetime judicial appointment.
Democrats have finally acknowledged the reality that @LindseyGrahamSC has been talking about for months.
Adeel Mangi is simply too radical to be confirmed to a lifetime seat on the bench. https://t.co/7Fz9zfgpYS

In a deal struck between Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republicans, Mangi’s nomination, along with three other controversial appellate nominees, was pulled in exchange for the confirmation of a dozen Biden district court judges. While Schumer may frame this as a win for Democrats, the deal ultimately gives President-elect Donald Trump the opportunity to fill key appellate court vacancies when he takes office, which could shift the balance of the judiciary.
Joe Biden's nominee for a federal appellate court, Adeel Mangi, was a board member of a group that advocated for cop-killers.
Cop-killers should never be released into society. It’s a no-brainer.
He is so far left that even some Democrats are opposing his nomination. pic.twitter.com/nGjFRRS35n

Republicans hailed the withdrawal of Mangi’s nomination as a victory in their ongoing fight against Biden’s judicial picks. The GOP remains committed to blocking left-wing judicial nominees who do not align with the values of the American people. The defeat of Mangi shows that bipartisan opposition to extreme nominees can still prevail in the Senate.
With Mangi’s defeat, Senate Republicans have proven that they will continue to stand firm against judicial nominees who have controversial ties or radical views.
