Well, folks, it looks like we’ve found the secret to athletic success in 2024: Just change your gender! The latest example of this absurd reality comes from Oregon, where transgender athlete Lia Rose recently dominated a varsity girls’ high jump competition with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches, handily beating the second-place finisher by two inches. What’s particularly interesting about this victory? Just last year, competing as Zachary against JV boys, this same athlete finished dead last with a jump of 4 feet, 6 inches.

You don’t need to be a biologist to see what’s happening here. Unable to compete successfully against other males, this athlete switched categories and suddenly found success competing against females. It’s almost as if biological males have inherent physical advantages over females in sports or something! Who would have thought? This transgender athlete’s personal record improved by just two inches between competitions, yet that slight improvement – combined with competing against girls instead of boys – was enough to vault from last place to champion.

The “Privacy” Shield

When questioned about whether Lia and Zachary are indeed the same person – a fact obvious to anyone with functioning eyeballs and access to athletic records – Portland Public Schools officials hid behind privacy laws. According to a spokesperson, they couldn’t confirm this basic information “to protect student privacy.” Of course, this is the same privacy that apparently doesn’t extend to girls forced to share locker rooms, bathrooms, and now athletic competitions with biological males.

What about protecting the privacy – and rights – of the female athletes who’ve trained their entire lives, only to be forced into unfair competition against someone with the biological advantages of male development? Where’s their protection? Oregon’s school athletic policies allow this madness to continue while claiming it’s all about “inclusion.” I’m old enough to remember when inclusion didn’t mean sacrificing fairness and common sense.

A Pattern Emerges in Oregon

This isn’t an isolated incident. Lia Rose’s victory follows close on the heels of another transgender athlete, Ada Gallagher, who recently dominated girls’ track events in the Portland area. Gallagher obliterated the competition in both the 200M and 400M races at the Portland Interscholastic League meet, setting season records with times of 25.76 and 57.62 seconds respectively. The margin of victory was so substantial it should raise eyebrows for anyone who still believes this competition is fair.

“Women have fought for — and earned — respect and support for themselves in sports and have made incredible gains in doing so. We must defend that progress and stand up for fairness.”, says Christine Drazan.

At least some sanity remains. Oregon House Minority Leader Christine Drazan and other Republicans are fighting back, supporting President Trump’s Executive Order 14201, which aims to prevent transgender women from competing in women’s sports.

They plan to introduce legislation to change high school athletics policies that currently allow this biological reality-denying circus to continue. How radical has our society become when stating biological facts is considered controversial, while allowing boys to compete against girls is celebrated as “progressive”?

The Real Victims

While the media frames these transgender athletic victories as inspiring tales of “perseverance” and “inclusivity,” they conveniently ignore the real victims: female athletes who lose opportunities, scholarships, and recognition they’ve worked their entire lives to achieve. Every time a biological male takes a spot on a women’s podium, a deserving young woman loses her rightful place. Every record set by a transgender athlete erases the achievements of female competitors who play by biology’s rules, not ideology’s demands.

The left’s celebration of “inclusion” requires the exclusion of fairness for women and girls. This isn’t progress – it’s erasure. It’s time to stop pretending that feelings trump biology, especially when women’s hard-fought athletic opportunities hang in the balance. Until sanity returns to our school athletics programs, expect more biological males who can’t compete against other males to “transition” and dominate female sports. After all, why work harder when you can just switch categories?
