150 House Democrats Vote Against Deporting Illegal Migrants With DUI Convictions

On Thursday, more than two-thirds of House Democrat lawmakers voted in opposition to a bipartisan bill that will order the deportation of illegal aliens with convictions for driving under the influence (DUI).

If enacted, the Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act (HR 6976) would make “driving while intoxicated or impaired” from drugs or alcohol grounds for “barring a non-U.S. national (alien under federal law) from admission into the United States” or deportation if already inside the U.S. illegally.

“The bar to admission shall apply to an individual who has been convicted of the offense or has admitted to having committed the acts which constitute the elements of the offense. As a ground for deport-ability, the individual must have been convicted of the offense,” the bill states.

A staggering 150 Democrats, including House Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), voted against the bill. Meanwhile, 59 Democrats joined 215 Republicans in passing the bill. The final vote tally was 274-150.

The bill was introduced to the House on January 11 by Rep Barry Moore (R-AL), who spoke out on the House floor about the dangers of drunk driving and his own personal experience with a DUI-related tragedy caused by an illegal alien.

“Every 45 minutes — that is how often someone in the United States dies in a crash involving an alcohol-impaired driver,” he said. “In 2021 alone, there were 13,384 alcohol-impaired driving fatalities. In the same year, drunk drivers — or drunk-driving crashes led to nearly 400,000 injuries. Those crashes don’t discriminate. The victim could be me, it could be you, it could be one of our family members.”

“This issue hits close to home for me,” Moore explained. “There was a newlywed couple from my hometown of Enterprise, Alabama, named Angel and Jeremy Seay. I knew them personally. Angel and Jeremy were riding their motorcycle together when out of nowhere an illegal alien under the influence of alcohol collided into the newlyweds with his pick-up. Their lives were cut dramatically short. Sadly, tragedies like this one are not uncommon across our country.”

Meanwhile, a clip has resurfaced of President Joe Biden arguing against the deportation of illegal aliens unless they committed a serious felony — with Biden adding: “I don’t count drunk driving as a felony.”

Democrat representatives seem to have some serious mental issues. They stand in the way of common sense legislation that PROTECTS American citizens. What about entering the Unites States illegally don’t they understand?

DUI says they were driving a car. how do they get a license. in most states you are required to have insurance. how can they afford it car or insurance. If they hit someone do they pay for damages? how do they pay? it is also against the law to drive without a license. just how many laws can they ignore before they are deported? does it do any good? the illegal that murdered the nurse was deported several times. What we need is a special jail. I would use the salt mines under Detroit. make them mine salt by hand to get their food. no work no food. they wouldn’t need guards. any fighting or riots and we turn out the lights no food is sent down. only water every other day. lights on for ten minutes to distribute the water. no food for a week. then food sent down and lights on for 30 minutes. another three days then more water and sent back to work. any trouble and it starts again. they will police themselves. when anyone finishes their sentence the word will get out dont get sent to the salt mines. when deported and they return they get sent directly to the salt mine. they wont come back. we must make the punishment worse than conditions in their own country. when deported issue them a hand gun and a hundred rounds of ammo. show them pictures of who is responsible for their problems.—I, Grampa
