FBI Investigates Swatting Attacks As Conservatives Sound Alarm
FBI Director Kash Patel has condemned the rise in swatting attacks after multiple conservative media figures were targeted in what appears to be a coordinated effort. His March 14 statement on X reaffirmed that the FBI is working with local authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible.
According to Gateway Pundit, independent journalist Nick Sortor and his family were victims of recent swatting attempts. The report states that Sortor’s father was targeted by a hoax call claiming he was “killing my entire family,” prompting an armed police response. Prior to this, an individual had reportedly sent an email to Sortor’s sister calling him a “Nazi,” suggesting the attack was politically motivated.
I want to address the alarming rise in ‘Swatting’ incidents targeting media figures. The FBI is aware of this dangerous trend, and my team and I are already taking action to investigate and hold those responsible accountable.
This isn’t about politics—weaponizing law enforcement…

The report explained that Eagleman’s familiarity with local law enforcement helped de-escalate the situation before it turned dangerous.
My wife and I were swatted tonight.
We are totally safe.
Thank you to everyone who checked in.
We are going to do whatever is necessary to find out who is behind these coordinated attacks and hold them accountable to the fullest extent.

Patel’s statement made clear that the FBI considers swatting a serious threat, not just to those targeted but also to the responding officers. “Weaponizing law enforcement against ANY American is not only morally reprehensible but also endangers lives,” he wrote.

As reports of swatting incidents increase, Patel’s statement signals that federal authorities are prioritizing efforts to track down those responsible. The FBI’s involvement comes as conservative media figures continue raising awareness about the growing threat posed by politically motivated hoax calls.
