Christians Criticize Neiman Marcus For Removing ‘Christmas’ From Holiday Catalog
Luxury retailer Neiman Marcus has renamed its long-standing Christmas catalog, opting for the more generic “The Holiday Book.” This change comes as part of what some see as an ongoing effort to erase Christian traditions from public life. The catalog, which has been a fixture for nearly a century, has dropped its reference to Christmas, a move that many conservative Christians find disrespectful.
The company’s spokesperson claimed the rebranding was done for “inclusion,” suggesting that the new name would make all customers feel welcome. However, the decision has been met with backlash, as many believe this is just another example of companies turning away from Christian values in favor of politically correct messaging. The catalog still includes its usual luxury items but now lacks any direct connection to the Christmas season.
Neiman Marcus has been acquired by Saks Fifth Avenue parent company HBC and will no longer be using the word " Christmas"
Does anyone see a pattern yet? First, it's statues, then canceling people who won't conform, now religion. Who's the fascist againhttps://t.co/hXDBd3zMej— The Conservative M. D. 🗨️🇺🇸 (@WarriorsForAll) October 25, 2024
Nabil Aliffi, Chief Brand Officer, defended the move, stating that the campaign aims to take customers on a magical journey, with marketing inspired by the brand’s early traditions. But critics argue that the rebranding strips away the true meaning of Christmas, replacing it with a watered-down version designed to avoid controversy.
Boycott Neiman Marcus. Buy nothing from them this CHRISTMAS SEASON…did they learn anything about their customers from the miller light debacle? Obviously not. pic.twitter.com/CBfHy840KM

Employees at Neiman Marcus are also expressing frustration. An anonymous worker at the Dallas headquarters told the New York Post that the company’s focus on DEI initiatives has overshadowed business concerns, risking financial losses. The employee stated that if more effort were put into business strategy rather than messaging, the company would be in a better position.
Another employee criticized the lack of communication, noting that staff learned about the catalog’s name change through news articles rather than from management. This worker suggested that the decision was based on personal viewpoints rather than a practical business move.

For Christians who feel that this decision is yet another attack on their faith, the answer might be simple — consider shopping elsewhere. If stores like Neiman Marcus continue to distance themselves from Christmas, they may see fewer loyal customers this year.
