Arizona Democrat Governor Sending National Guard To Southern Border

Amid record-high numbers of illegal aliens flooding into the United States, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) has signed an executive order that will deploy Arizona National Guardsmen to help law enforcement along the state’s southern border with Mexico.

The shocking move from a Democrat governor comes as President Joe Biden’s border crisis continues to cause serious problems across the U.S., including a rise in fentanyl overdoses, a rise in crime and an increase in spending on illegal aliens that has resulted in budget deficits and loss of resources for struggling Americans.

Hobbs announced the executive order in a press release, decrying the Biden administration’s refusal to secure the border and protect Americans.

“Yet again, the federal government is refusing to do its job to secure our border and keep our communities safe,” she wrote, adding: “With this Executive Order, I am taking action where the federal government won’t.”

“But we can’t stand alone, Arizona needs resources and manpower to reopen the Lukeville crossing, manage the flow of migrants, and maintain a secure, orderly, and humane border,” the press release continued.

Hobbs went on to note that Arizona has repeatedly requested aid from the Biden administration to deal with the border crisis but has not received a response.

“Despite continued requests for assistance, the Biden administration has refused to deliver desperately needed resources to Arizona’s border,” she wrote.

In a statement to Fox 10, National Guard leaders reported that they had been in meetings all day on Friday to prepare for the initiative.

“Specifically, we will be assisting the Department of Public Safety,” Captain Erin Hannigan told the outlet, emphasizing that the National Guard are not law enforcement and thus they will be there only in a support capacity.

“There’s a lot that goes on with law enforcement,” Hannigan added. “There’s a lot of tasks that they need to complete in an administrative role, and stepping into do that for them so that they can be on the streets, that they can be doing that active role is really what we are trying to do.”

In the Tucson Sector alone, U.S. Border Patrol officials have seen a massive influx of illegal aliens crossing into the U.S., reporting more than 700 encounters in a single day in November.

Hobbs is not the only Democrat leader that has joined the Republicans in their outrage over the Biden administration’s open borders policies. New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) has been calling out the problem for several months now, including telling New York City residents last month that “help is not on the way” after a disappointing meeting with Biden to beg for help to deal with the illegal alien crisis in his city.
