Illegal Alien Arrested For The Murder Of Nursing Student

An illegal alien has been apprehended by Georgia police for the murder of nursing student Laken Hope Riley, whose body was discovered on the University of Georgia campus on Thursday.

Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at the Augusta University College of Nursing, was reported missing on Thursday by her roommate after she did not come home following a run, which was unusual for her.

Law enforcement conducted an extensive search for the missing student, ultimately discovering her in a forested area near Lake Herrick with “visible injuries” and “not breathing.” Riley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jose Antonio Ibarra, a 26-year-old illegal alien residing in Athens, Georgia, was arrested on Friday by law enforcement in connection to the murder.

The University of Georgia Police issued a statement following the arrest, which read: “A suspect in the murder of Laken Riley has been taken into custody by the University of Georgia Police Department. At this time, there are no indications of a continuing threat to the UGA campus related to this matter.”

Ibarra has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call and concealing the death of another.

The University of Georgia Police do not believe that the suspect knew his victim, suggesting that this was a crime of opportunity for the illegal alien.

“Rest assured that the University of Georgia police in cooperation with Athens-Clarke County police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are continuing to work around the clock to resolve this crime and to bring anyone involved into justice,” Greg Trevor, a spokesman with the University of Georgia, explained in a statement.

The University of Georgia has canceled classes until Monday in response to the murder, though they noted that the campus would remain open as a place for students, faculty and staff to gather.

Meanwhile, conservatives took to social media to blame President Joe Biden for Riley’s murder, as his open borders policies have led to numerous criminal illegal aliens entering the United States without proper vetting.

“I can’t stop thinking about Laken Riley. That could have been anyone…your daughter, your neighbor, your sister, etc. How many more Americans have to die before Biden acknowledges the national security threat an open border imposes? Riley’s death was entirely preventable,” former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“When you vote, think of Laken Riley. Think of Mollie Tibets. Think of Kate Steinle. Think of Lizbeth Medina. Think of all the innocent American lives we already lost due to open borders. Think of how many we could save. Do it for them,” wrote popular X account End Wokeness.

End Wokeness also noted in a separate post that Ibarra had a long criminal history and had been allowed into the U.S. in 2022 thanks to Biden’s border policies.

“The suspect crossed the border illegally in El Paso in 2022. He was apprehended & then released. The suspect was then arrested in Queens on 9/14/23 for injury to a child and having no license. The suspect and his brother were cited in Athens-Clarke County on 10/27/23 for shoplifting. The suspect had an outstanding bench warrant in Athens-Clarke County as of 12/20/23 for failing to appear in court on the shoplifting charges,” the post read, adding: “The federal government’s open border policies – and active efforts to prevent states from securing the border – have resulted upwards of 7 million illegal immigrants flowing into the country over the last three years, including the suspect in this case, who was detained and released by federal authorities.”
