President Biden has been taking steps to reassure progressive voters about his agenda in anticipation of his probable announcement of a reelection campaign next week. However, during his initial two years in office, he did not fulfill several essential progressive platform goals, such as promoting voting rights and establishing federal abortion access. 

His inconsistent approach to COVID-era immigration policy and efforts to increase domestic oil production in response to historically high gas prices due to the Ukraine conflict has caused dissatisfaction among liberals.

Biden’s political team is considering Tuesday as the potential date for launching his reelection effort, which marks the four-year anniversary of his 2020 campaign announcement.

In the past few days, the president has revealed multiple executive actions to alleviate concerns among progressives.

On Tuesday, the president signed a series of executive orders intended to enlarge the care economy, which is a crucial component of his Build Back Better program, that had to be removed from his extensive spending plan for 2022.

The executive orders aim to decrease childcare expenses for families, provide greater access to cost-effective long-term care options and improve pay and education opportunities for care workers.

On Thursday, Biden held a virtual meeting with the leaders of the Major Economies Forum on Energy for the fourth time during his presidency to explore methods of reducing carbon emissions in energy, halting deforestation in critical forests, reducing all climate pollutants and advancing carbon capture technology.

On Friday afternoon, Biden signed another executive order aimed at revitalizing America’s pledge to promote “environmental justice for all.”

Progressive aspirations of effectively challenging Biden in the 2024 Democratic primary almost vanished after he guided the party to a surprisingly triumphant outcome in the 2022 midterm elections. During the elections, the Democrats effectively retained control of the Senate and prevented the Republicans from obtaining a significant majority in the House.

When asked about the president’s recent series of left-leaning executive actions, senior Democratic officials told the Washington Examiner that Biden is simply fulfilling his campaign promises.

Experienced Democratic campaign strategists do acknowledge that a high voter turnout, comparable to the historically high levels of 2020, is necessary for the president to secure a second term in the White House.

On Friday, the Associated Press released a poll indicating a divide among Democrats regarding the prospect of another four years with President Biden. While most Democrats preferred an alternative candidate for the 2024 presidential race, 81% of the party would back him in the general election if he was nominated.
