Trump Jokes About Sending Harris A ‘MAGA Hat’ After Policy Shifts

During the first 2024 presidential debate, President Donald Trump quipped that he should send Vice President Kamala Harris a “MAGA hat” due to her recent shift on several key policies. Trump made the remark while pointing out how Harris, over the years, has moved closer to the positions he championed during his presidency.

“Everything she believed three or four years ago is out the window. She’s coming around to my philosophy now. In fact, I was going to send her a MAGA hat,” Trump joked, which elicited a laugh from Harris during the debate. The light-hearted moment underscored Trump’s point that Harris has made significant changes to her policy stances since her first presidential run in 2019.

Trump also took the opportunity to criticize Harris, referring to her as a “Marxist” and calling her “Comrade Kamala.” These jabs reflect the ongoing tensions between the two candidates, as Trump seeks to define Harris as a far-left radical.

Harris responded to these accusations by stating in a CNN interview that her values have remained consistent. She emphasized that her goals, such as combating climate change and securing the southern border, have been steadfast throughout her career, despite what Trump suggested.

The debate, held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, saw both candidates trading sharp barbs. Trump repeatedly questioned Harris on why she has not delivered on key issues during her time as vice president, including immigration and economic reform, asking, “Why hasn’t she done it? She’s been there for three and a half years.”

As both campaigns move forward, it remains to be seen whether Harris will face Trump again in another debate before Election Day.
