Trump Hosts 275 Linemen At His Resort Ahead Of Hurricane Milton, Shows Support For Relief Efforts

President Donald Trump welcomed 275 Florida Power & Light (FPL) linemen to his Miami golf resort as they prepared for the anticipated aftermath of Hurricane Milton. Eric Trump, his son, announced the gesture on X, stating, “Honored to have 275 incredible linemen from FPL as they get ready to respond to the aftermath of Hurricane #Milton!” He added that the Trump family, along with the state of Florida, appreciates their efforts and wished them safety.

Hurricane Milton, downgraded from a Category 5 to Category 3, is still expected to cause widespread flooding and infrastructure damage when it hits Florida’s Gulf Coast. Over 6 million Floridians are under mandatory evacuation orders as officials brace for the impact. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis noted that more than 50,000 linemen across the country are prepared to assist, calling it the largest utility worker staging in U.S. history.

Trump’s Doral resort, which typically charges over $300 a night, provided accommodations for the FPL linemen ahead of their work to restore power after the hurricane. Trump has also launched a GoFundMe campaign to support those impacted by Hurricane Helene, which hit the Southeast last week, raising over $7 million for relief efforts so far.

Meanwhile, political tension has surfaced between Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. DeSantis. Harris accused the governor of playing “political gamesmanship” after reportedly refusing her calls regarding Hurricane Milton. However, DeSantis disputed this claim, stating he had no knowledge of any calls and criticized Harris for attempting to politicize the situation. President Joe Biden also contradicted Harris’ claim, praising DeSantis for his cooperation during the crisis.
