Trump Declares Jan. 6 Committee Members ‘Should Go To Jail’ In Fiery Interview
President-elect Donald Trump did not hold back during a recent interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” when he asserted that members of the Jan. 6 committee, including Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson, “should go to jail.” Trump’s remarks were in response to questions from host Kristen Welker, who appeared stunned by his bold claims.
Welker, referencing Cheney and California Sen.-elect Adam Schiff, pressed Trump on his statement. “You think Liz Cheney should go to jail?” she asked. Trump replied by reiterating that the actions of the now-defunct committee, which he described as a “sham,” warrant investigation.
“Honestly, they should all go to jail.”

“I think they’ll have to look at that,” Trump said when asked if his administration would direct prosecutions. “But I’m gonna focus on drill, baby, drill.” Trump emphasized that his primary goal remains restoring the country’s prosperity rather than revisiting past controversies.
Trump’s nominees for key positions, including Kash Patel for FBI Director and Pam Bondi for Attorney General, could play pivotal roles in addressing these concerns. Bondi, in a 2023 interview, had vowed that “the prosecutors will be prosecuted” if wrongdoing in the Justice Department was uncovered.

During the interview, Trump shifted focus to his broader vision for the country, stating, “I’m looking to make our country successful. Retribution will be through success.” He highlighted issues such as crime, border security, and the economy as his main priorities, promising to deliver on his campaign promises.
The remarks reflect Trump’s ongoing criticism of the Jan. 6 committee and his intent to bring accountability while focusing on policies aimed at revitalizing the nation.
