Trump Campaign Ad Calls Out ‘Kamala & the Democrats’ As The ‘Party Of Violence’
Just one day after a second assassination attempt against Donald Trump, the Trump-Vance campaign launched a new ad accusing Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party of promoting violence. The ad, which was released on Monday, prominently labels “KAMALA & THE DEMOCRATS” as “THE PARTY OF VIOLENCE.”
The ad opens with a clip of Harris from a 2018 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she joked about being stuck in an elevator with Trump, Mike Pence, or Jeff Sessions, asking, “Does one of us have to come out alive?” The ad also includes instances of President Joe Biden making remarks about taking Trump “behind the gym” and beating him up.
In addition to Biden and Harris, the ad features other prominent Democrats like Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Hillary Clinton, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), highlighting their past controversial statements. The ad positions these remarks as evidence of a pattern of violent rhetoric within the Democratic Party.
The Trump-Vance campaign also issued a statement listing examples of how Democrats’ rhetoric allegedly “inspired another attempt” on Trump’s life. The statement emphasizes that the party’s incendiary language contributed to the two assassination attempts against Trump in recent months.
Critics of the ad, such as MSNBC’s MaddowBlog, pushed back on its claims. In a piece by Steve Benen, the blog referred to the recent attempt on Trump’s life as “an apparent” assassination attempt and justified Harris’ warnings about Trump being a threat to democracy.
