Trump Announces ‘Operation Aurora’ To Eliminate Migrant Gangs From US
Former President Donald Trump revealed a new initiative, “Operation Aurora,” during a rally in Aurora, Colorado, aimed at removing illegal immigrant gangs from the United States if he is re-elected in November. The plan targets violent migrant gangs, particularly the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which has been linked to crimes in the Denver suburb.
Trump’s speech, delivered at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and simulcast on Newsmax, highlighted his commitment to “liberating” American towns from the scourge of illegal immigration and gang violence. “Nov. 5, 2024, will be liberation day in America,” Trump said, pledging to rid Aurora and other cities of criminals who entered the country illegally.
The plan, named after an operation used by San Antonio police, was dedicated to the victims of violent crimes committed by migrants, including 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray and 37-year-old Rachel Morin. Trump declared his intent to invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to expedite the removal of illegal immigrant gang members, allowing the arrest, deportation, or relocation of foreign nationals involved in threats or incursions against the US.
Trump promised swift action, stating that elite squads from ICE, Border Patrol, and federal law enforcement would be deployed to hunt down and deport gang members. He also proposed a 10-year prison sentence for any deported criminal re-entering the country and called for the death penalty for any migrant who kills an American citizen or law enforcement officer.
Aurora, which Trump has depicted as a symbol of migrant-related crime, was central to his speech. He criticized the Biden-Harris administration for its immigration policies, directly targeting Vice President Kamala Harris. “No person who has inflicted the violence and terror that Kamala Harris has inflicted on this community can ever be allowed to become the president of the United States,” Trump said.
Trump also announced plans to push Congress to ban sanctuary cities, including Denver, and to initiate the largest deportation effort in US history. He concluded by urging Colorado to support him as a stand against illegal immigration and a defense of American sovereignty.
