Trump Administration Tells Fired Bureaucrats To Grab Their Stuff And Get Out

Federal employees accustomed to cushy jobs and endless taxpayer funding are facing reality under the Trump administration’s effort to slash waste. Laid-off workers from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have been given just 15 minutes to collect their personal items and exit the Ronald Reagan Building for good.

A directive posted online made it clear — displaced employees only have a narrow two-day window, February 27 and 28, to retrieve their belongings. Entry will be tightly controlled, with each worker required to arrive at their designated time and undergo strict security screening before being escorted to their workspace. “Staff should arrive at the start of their time window, but no sooner, as early entry will not be granted,” the notice read.

There will be no assistance provided to help employees pack up. USAID made it clear that workers must bring their own materials. “Staff MUST bring their own boxes, bags, tape, and/or other containers,” the directive stated. Any personal property left behind will be packed and stored by the General Services Administration, with no promise that it will remain intact.

Security will oversee the entire process to ensure nothing other than personal belongings is removed. “Staff will be given approximately 15 minutes to complete this retrieval,” the agency warned. Any government-issued materials, including identification badges and laptops, must be surrendered before leaving the premises.

This mass clearance follows the administration’s decision to cut 1,600 USAID positions while placing 4,200 other employees on administrative leave. The agency, long accused of pouring taxpayer money into unnecessary foreign projects, is now being held accountable.

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency are making one thing clear — government jobs are not permanent welfare programs. It’s time for these workers to join the private sector and experience the real economy.
