Raskin’s Threatens Trump Disqualification, Civil War

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has sparked significant controversy with a video showing him suggesting Congress might disqualify President Donald Trump if he wins the 2024 election. The video, taken during a voter rights event hosted by a left-wing professor, captures Raskin invoking the Fourteenth Amendment as a potential basis for disqualification and warning of possible civil unrest.

Raskin’s comments come after the Supreme Court ruled against Colorado’s attempt to use the Fourteenth Amendment to disqualify President Trump, leaving the matter in Congress’s hands. In the video, Raskin states, “They want to kick it to Congress, so it’s going to be up to us on January 6th, 2025, to tell the rampaging Trump mobs that he’s disqualified, and then we need bodyguards for everybody and civil conditions.”

The video’s authenticity, supported by high-resolution quality and accurate lip-syncing, has led to strong reactions. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and other Republican lawmakers have condemned Raskin’s statements, arguing they are dangerously inflammatory.

Critics of Raskin’s remarks argue that his rhetoric could incite violence and deepen political divisions. His description of Trump supporters as “rampaging mobs” and the implication that bodyguards might be necessary underscore the potential for conflict if Congress attempts to disqualify a duly elected president.

As the 2024 election approaches, these comments have intensified debates about the role of Congress, the interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment, and the stability of American democracy. With the issue now in Congress’s court, Raskin’s statements highlight the contentious and potentially explosive nature of this legal and political battle.
