Montana Democrat Operative Caught Tampering With Ballot Box

A Democrat operative in Montana was caught on surveillance footage tampering with an election ballot drop box, raising concerns about election security. Video obtained by Fox News shows the individual, Laszlo Gendler, attempting to tear the ballot box off the wall. Gendler has been linked to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), which is working to support incumbent Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) in his race against GOP challenger Tim Sheehy.

The incident occurred in Glacier County, where election officials expressed alarm over the suspicious activity. Montana Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen’s Communications Director, Richie Melby, stated that the county’s election administrator contacted the state office about the footage. The individual in question was confirmed to be Gendler, and the matter was referred to local law enforcement for investigation.

The footage, taken on October 20th, shows Gendler tampering with one of two official ballot drop boxes in Glacier County. Election Administrator Crystal R. Cole confirmed that the Democratic Party did not notify her office about plans to send someone to inspect the security of the boxes. Gendler claimed that he was sent by “them” to assess the security of the drop box, but the lack of communication with the elections office led to concerns over his actions.

This incident has sparked further attention in a closely watched Senate race in Montana. Recent polls, including an October New York Times/Siena poll, show Sheehy leading Tester by a margin of 52-44. Republicans need just two more seats to gain a majority in the Senate, which could have significant implications for future legislative decisions and judicial appointments.

Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, but the tampering has heightened fears over the integrity of the election process in this pivotal race.
