Kamala Harris Endorsement Hurts Taylor Swift’s Popularity
Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris has triggered a sharp decline in her popularity, especially among Republicans and independents. An NBC News poll shows that Swift’s favorability dropped from 40% in 2023 to 33% in 2024, with negative opinions of her jumping from 16% to 27% in the same period.
The most significant shift came from Republican voters. In 2023, only 26% of Republicans viewed Swift unfavorably, but now that number has risen to 47%. Additionally, only 12% of Republicans view her positively, down from 28%. This sharp decline indicates that Swift’s endorsement of Harris was not well received by conservative voters.
Swift’s support for Harris came after the first presidential debate, where the vice president continues to face criticism for her handling of the border crisis and drug overdose deaths. While Swift’s endorsement may have been aimed at boosting Harris’ appeal among younger voters, it seems to have had the opposite effect on Republicans and independents.
Among independents, Swift’s favorability has dropped from 34% to 26%, showing that her political alignment may have alienated a key voting bloc. Even though Swift encouraged her fans to make informed decisions and vote how they see fit, her public endorsement of a polarizing figure like Harris has likely caused lasting damage to her popularity.
Despite this, Swift’s popularity among Democrats rose slightly, from 53% to 58%. However, this small increase has done little to offset the broader backlash she has faced from Republicans and independents.
