Jim Baker Joins Election Task Force, Causes Serious Concerns
Jim Baker, a former FBI agent and lawyer for Twitter, has joined the National Task Force for Election Crises, raising alarms about his potential role in election interference ahead of the 2024 presidential race. Baker’s past involvement in censoring election-related free speech and coordinating with Big Tech to suppress information has led to significant concern.
The National Task Force for Election Crises aims to secure elections and prevent fraud, partly through the rapid censorship of disinformation.
Baker’s bio on the task force website boasts his extensive career, including his roles at the FBI and the Justice Department, but fails to mention his controversial tenure at Twitter.
At Twitter, Baker played a part in the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story, which many believe impacted the 2020 election outcome.
During a 2023 congressional hearing, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) questioned Baker about his role in Twitter’s censorship policies. Despite Baker’s involvement, he repeatedly claimed he did not know specifics about the censorship decisions, leading to further distrust.
Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell has criticized Twitter’s efforts to suppress information detrimental to Joe Biden’s campaign. An MRC poll indicated that 9.4% of Biden voters might have voted differently had they known about the Hunter Biden story, suggesting that censorship had a significant impact on the election.
Baker’s association with the National Task Force for Election Crises, given his history, has sparked fears that he might continue to influence elections by manipulating the flow of information under the guise of preventing disinformation.
