House Republicans Push Nationwide Concealed Carry Bill With Trump’s Support
A new push by House Republicans to pass nationwide concealed carry reciprocity legislation is gaining momentum, with President Donald Trump voicing strong support. The proposed Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R. 38) seeks to ensure gun owners’ rights are protected as they travel across state lines.
Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) introduced the legislation, which has attracted over 120 Republican cosponsors. The bill would mandate that concealed carry permits issued in one state be recognized in all others, while allowing residents of Constitutional Carry states to exercise their rights across the country. Hudson emphasized the importance of protecting constitutional freedoms. “This legislation guarantees our rights to self-defense are not bound by invisible state lines,” he said.

Proponents argue the bill addresses years of restrictive gun laws implemented by blue states that have made it difficult for permit holders to navigate differing regulations. Supporters also point to states like New York and California, which impose stringent rules that complicate reciprocity agreements and limit gun owners’ freedoms.
Why can I drive across state lines with my Texas driver’s license, but my Second Amendment rights get left at the border? It’s time for that to change. Thanks to Rep. Gun rights organizations, including the NRA and Gun Owners of America, have rallied behind the proposal, calling it a necessary reform to protect law-abiding citizens. “This is a chance for Congress to deliver a major win for Second Amendment supporters,” said a spokesperson for GOA. These groups have praised President Trump for his leadership on the issue and his commitment to signing the bill into law.

The Supreme Court’s ruling in the Bruen case affirmed Americans’ right to carry firearms for personal protection, but states with restrictive laws have continued to enact measures limiting where concealed carry is allowed. Critics argue these actions undermine the court’s decision and create unnecessary legal hurdles for responsible gun owners.

If passed, the bill would impact an estimated 22 million concealed carry permit holders, offering them greater freedom to travel nationwide without the risk of violating state-specific regulations. The legislation maintains state sovereignty by respecting individual state laws while ensuring nationwide recognition of permits.
