House GOP Considers Making Jack Smith’s Prosecutors’ Names Public

House Republicans are considering exposing members of special counsel Jack Smith’s prosecutorial team as part of their ongoing investigation into his office. A spokesperson for the House Judiciary Committee indicated that “everything is on the table,” highlighting the possibility of naming the individuals involved.

This potential move follows the committee’s demand for Smith to preserve all records related to his investigations. Republicans sent a letter emphasizing concerns about the destruction of evidence now that President Donald Trump has been reelected.

“Prosecutors in your office have been ‘gaming out legal options’ in the event that President Trump won the election,” the letter stated, referencing reports that Smith’s team anticipated the outcome. The committee underscored the importance of transparency, requesting that Smith provide all documents by Nov. 22.

The idea of identifying Smith’s team stems from Republican frustration over investigations they see as politically charged. Smith’s office has handled two high-profile cases against Trump, one concerning efforts to contest the 2020 election and another involving classified documents. Both cases have faced criticism from conservative lawmakers.

Recent reports suggest Smith’s team is reluctant to disband despite Trump’s victory. Sources close to the special counsel told CNN that Smith is unlikely to conclude his work voluntarily, with insiders describing him as determined to keep the cases moving forward.

As Republicans weigh their next steps, the potential exposure of Smith’s team adds a new dimension to their investigation. While the committee has yet to confirm specific plans, the move would mark a significant escalation in their efforts to scrutinize Smith’s handling of these politically sensitive cases.
