FBI Raids Homes Of Top Aides To NYC Mayor Eric Adams Amid Ongoing Investigation
The FBI has conducted raids on the homes of several high-ranking aides to Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams, adding to the mounting legal troubles facing his administration. According to multiple sources, the raids targeted the homes of Deputy Mayors Phil Banks and Sheena Wright, among others.
The reason for the raids remains unclear, but the investigation is reportedly being led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Law enforcement sources confirmed that federal agents also confiscated the phone of another key aide, Timothy Pearson. Additionally, former MTA official and lobbyist Terence Banks, brother to Phil Banks, was reportedly targeted in the probe.
In a statement, an NYPD spokesperson acknowledged the ongoing investigation, stating, “The Department is fully cooperating in the investigation.” The raids also reportedly involved NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, a close ally of Adams.
While the purpose of the investigation is yet to be revealed, it appears unrelated to another federal probe into Mayor Adams’ dealings with Turkey, which led to a subpoena in August. Adams has previously claimed that he is being unfairly targeted, pointing to his diverse team of deputy mayors. In February, Adams said, “Have you ever seen this much chocolate leading the City of New York?”
The raids raise further questions about the legal challenges surrounding Mayor Adams’ administration, as federal scrutiny continues to intensify. So far, neither Adams nor his aides have publicly commented on the most recent developments.
