DOGE Employees Face Doxing, Harassment As Media And Political Figures Lash Out

Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employees are being targeted with doxing and harassment, prompting a strong response from federal prosecutors. U.S. Attorney Ed Martin confirmed Monday that his office is investigating potential legal violations related to the public exposure and threats against DOGE workers.

“Our initial review of the evidence presented to us indicates that certain individuals and/or groups have committed acts that appear to violate the law in targeting DOGE employees,” Martin stated. He added that his office is coordinating with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies, with prosecutors already preparing legal action.

The controversy erupted after media outlets, including Wired, published the names of several DOGE engineers, many of whom are young and lack traditional government experience. Shortly after, their names circulated on X, where users began making threats. Musk responded on X, writing, “You have committed a crime,” in response to the online exposure of his staff.

Martin directly addressed Musk in a letter, ensuring that threats and harassment against DOGE employees would not be tolerated. “We will pursue any and all legal action against anyone who impedes your work or threatens your people,” Martin wrote, contrasting his stance with that of the previous administration, which he accused of failing to protect government personnel from violent protests.

Musk later acknowledged the controversy but shifted focus to his employees’ qualifications. “Time to confess: Media reports saying that @DOGE has some of the world’s best software engineers are in fact true,” he wrote on X.

Critics, including some media figures, have dismissed claims of doxing, arguing that government employees have less expectation of privacy. Some commentators even defended the exposure, framing it as necessary public oversight of the department. However, Musk’s supporters argue that revealing the names of young engineers working on sensitive federal operations places them in direct danger.

As threats against DOGE staff escalate, Martin has vowed aggressive legal action. “We must keep all our American government employees safe,” he warned. With ongoing investigations, arrests may soon follow as federal authorities take steps to crack down on those targeting Musk’s team.
