Chinese National Detained After Trespassing At Trump’s Estate
Zijie Li, a 39-year-old Chinese national, was arrested Thursday for trespassing at President-elect Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. This marks Li’s latest attempt to enter the property despite a court order barring him from the premises.
Li, who resides in Los Angeles on a student visa, arrived at the estate in an Uber shortly after being released from a mental hospital. Police reports indicate he has been involved in several incidents near Mar-a-Lago since July, when he first tried to access the property.

In July, Li reportedly told Secret Service agents he had information tying China to a July assassination attempt against Trump. He was denied entry and later arrested for trespassing after two additional attempts to enter the estate.
More recently, Li approached a nearby homeowner with a Trump campaign sign, asking if she could take him into Mar-a-Lago. The woman contacted authorities, leading to Li’s temporary placement in a mental facility. His return to Mar-a-Lago after his release resulted in his latest arrest, and his bail for the earlier trespassing charge has since been revoked.

Mar-a-Lago has seen multiple security breaches over the years, including incidents involving other Chinese nationals. In 2019, Yujing Zhang gained unauthorized access to the property with multiple electronic devices. Another individual, Jing Lu, was arrested the same year for taking photos near the estate.

The Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office, representing Li, has not issued a statement. His case highlights ongoing challenges in securing high-profile properties like Mar-a-Lago, which has remained a central location for Trump since his presidency.
